It’s usually measured in megabits per second (Mbps), although really fast connections are measured in gigabits per second (Gbps). Download speed is especially important for uses like watching high-quality video or downloading software.Upload speedJust as download speed refers to how fast data gets to your device, upload speed refers to how fast information on your device can be sent to some other destination on the internet (like how fast your vacation pictures post to Instagram). It’s simply the bandwidth available on your connection going the opposite direction. For most connections, upload and download speed are usually different, but when you see internet plans advertised by speed, they’re usually focusing on just the download speed. This is important for content creators or people that work from home that need to upload their work to the internet, as well as for any sort of two-way video communication. What is latency? One other important measurement for internet speed is latency, or lag. Latency is very different from bandwidth, even though both deal with the speed of your connection. Latency refers to the time it takes for a signal to be sent from your computer to your service provider and come back. High latency can lead to more buffering on streaming video, but it’s much more disruptive in activities like video chat or online gaming. If you’ve ever experienced lag while playing an online game or watching a Twitch stream, latency is the statistic you need to worry about. Run a search below to see what other kinds of internet are available in your area. You may be able to find much faster packages than what you have now. What determines your internet speed? If there’s one thing that everyone knows about internet speed, it’s that not all

WLANOptimizerSingle-header C library that fixes WiFi performance issues for online gaming and other low-latency real-time network traffic. This fixes a common issue on Windows laptops where the adapter scans fornetworks while a connection is active, causing 100+ millisecond delays. This makes a huge difference in performance for real-time multiplayer! On my laptop it reduces the latency from 130 ms delay spikes to 10 ms or less - 10x improvement.Notably this also improves my BitTorrent download speed by 4x, as BitTorrent protocol uses a congestion control strategy based on latency (LEDBAT). These latency spikes cause download speed to plummet in easy, repeatable tests.Note: This settings change DOES NOT require Administrator access.Easy setup: Add the include header somewhere: #include "WLANOptimizer.h" Call the start function: StartWLANOptimizerThread();And that's it.DemoTo try it out quickly, run the tests/stand_alone.exe application. To set up a more thorough demo between two computers on your LAN, run the tests/tests_peer2peer_gui.exe on two computers on your WiFi LAN.The results on my WLAN:CreditsSoftware by Christopher A. Bluepeak Internet Ranks First in Communities in Wyoming, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota The internet provider tops the SpeedtestⓇ results in several markets for the second quarter of 2023. (DENVER, Colo.) – July 26, 2023 – Bluepeak internet service is ranked number one for fastest internet speeds, most consistent network and lowest latency in several markets in its service area. That’s the conclusion of Ookla’s newly released SpeedtestTM Market Index report for the second quarter of 2023, including data collected from millions of consumer-initiated tests across the country. The report – which ranks mobile and fixed broadband speeds from internet service providers around the world monthly – shows that Bluepeak is ranked highest for delivering the fastest median download and upload speeds, most consistent network and lowest latency to its internet customers in several different places during the second quarter of 2023.*The achievements for each market where Bluepeak service received a top ranking, verified by Ookla®, are as follows:WyomingThe fastest download and upload speeds, most consistent network and the lowest latency in all of Wyoming. The fastest download and upload speeds and most consistent network in Cheyenne and Laramie County. The fastest download and upload speeds, most consistent network and the lowest latency in Laramie. The fastest download and upload speeds in Casper and Natrona County.OklahomaThe fastest download and upload speeds and most consistent network in Stillwater and Payne County. The fastest download and upload speeds in Lawton. The fastest download and upload speeds in Altus. The fastest download and upload speeds in Bartlesville and Washington County.North DakotaThe fastest download and upload speeds and most consistent network in Grand Forks and Grand Forks County.South DakotaThe fastest upload speeds in Springdale Township. The fastest upload speeds in Madison and Lake County.MinnesotaThe fastest upload speeds in Marshall. As a result of Bluepeak’s competitive service, residents of these communities benefit from greater choice among their internet options. Research shows, greater competition for consumer goods – like internet – benefits consumers by lowering prices, boosting investment and enabling innovation. In addition, a 2020 report by Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond on “Bringing Broadband to Rural America” determined that broadband access and adoption are linked to increased job and population growth, higher rates of new business formation, higher home values, and lower unemployment rates.Ookla® is the global leader in network intelligence and connectivity insights. Over eighteen million tests are actively initiated by consumers each day across all Speedtest platforms, with over 45 billion tests completed to date. As a result, Ookla has the most comprehensive analytics on worldwide internet performance and accessibility. For more information on Bluepeak, visit mybluepeak.com.*Based on analysis by Ookla® of Speedtest Intelligence® data for median download speeds, upload speeds and consistency score, and multi-server latency, in the identified geographies, A different type of connection). If you have cable internet and your result is low, you’re probably experiencing congestion from the other homes in your area. Try testing your speed at another time when your neighbors are less likely to be online. If you’re hitting the proper download speeds outside of peak-use times, there’s nothing wrong with your connection. That’s just how cable works.Checking your latencyIf you play online games or watch live video, you also want to pay attention to your latency. If your latency is down below 20 milliseconds (ms), your experience should be perfectly smooth. If your latency is above 150 ms, you’re going to have some significant issues with lag. Some lag issues can’t be fixed because that would mean changing the laws of physics. Even going at near the speed of light, it takes time for a signal to reach a server in South Korea.Other sources of lag can be dealt with. Replacing an old router can reduce latency. Connecting directly to your router via Ethernet cable instead of over Wi-Fi will make a huge difference in preventing lag. Finally, you can upgrade to a type of connection with naturally lower latency, like fiber.Diagnosing problemsIf you’ve done everything you can to get the most accurate speed test and your download speeds are still way below what your ISP promised, it could mean a few different things.Malware—You might have malware on your device. Network worms and other malicious software hijack part of your bandwidth, but this is often the least of your worries. Run antivirus software to check for and remove malware.Outdated hardware—You might have outdated hardware that’s incompatible with your provider’s requirements. For example, Xfinity’s gigabit services require a DOCSIS 3.1 modem. Although DOCSIS 3.0 equipment can technically get up to gigabit speeds, Xfinity doesn’t support

Travel to a remote server and back to your computer in milliseconds. In this category, lower is always better. The other two metrics are upload and download speed. For those two, higher is always better. However, since everyone's internet connection is different, and these values tend to fluctuate over time, I represent these as a percentage changed against a baseline measurement of my connection without the VPN. Each data point is tested domestically with a VPN server in the United States, and internationally with a VPN server in Australia. In addition, I cite the highest speed recorded. All metrics are gathered by using Ookla Speedtest, which is owned by PCMag's parent company, j2 Global. The domestic latency of Private Internet Access VPN (for Linux) suffered only a 50.72 percent increase in latency from my baseline measurement. International latency tested at a 213 percet increase in latency. The lowest ping time recorded domestically was 30 milliseconds (ms), while the highest was 38 ms. For comparison the lowest international ping time was 210 ms, while the highest was 220 ms.For download speed, there was a 87.99 percent decrease in speed domestically, and a 89.21 percent decrease in speed internationally. The domestic upload speed decreased on average by 94.92 percent. International upload speed had a significant, but expected, decrease in speed of 94.12 percent on average. The fastest recorded download speed for Private Internet Access VPN (for Linux) was 48.15 Megabits per second (Mbps) and the fastest upload speed was 1.76 Mbps.Privacy and SecurityLike TorGuard VPN (for Linux), Private Internet Access VPN (for Linux) operates inside United States legal jurisdiction. Unlike TorGuard VPN (for Linux), however, Private Internet Access states that, while it will "scrutinize and question" legal requests to protect the privacy of its clients, a close look at its policies does seem

High Download Latency but Low Upload Latency :

Help guys. I downloaded the drivers in the links you provided, and restarted my machine twice, but nothing changed. I am not seeing ASIO Saffire as a choice in the driver dropdown? It just shows ASIO, and when I select it it only shows one Audio Device as before. Wish I could cut and paste the screen print in here. But it looks like the Forum doesn't allow it.I also uninstalled the old version of asio4all.Frustrating. Which link is supposed to download the ASIO Saffire driver so "ASIO Saffire" shows up as a driver choice? Thanks, Dan pencilrocket Posts: 1718 Joined: Tue Jun 15, 2010 10:46 am Re: For ASIO driver, Ableton only shows 1 Audio Device Post by pencilrocket » Mon Jun 09, 2014 11:55 pm fishmonkey wrote:asio4all is like a virus now...so... the other asio drivers programmd by the other developer runs with more latency than asio4all should be deleted by AVS. Also, check for updates in Windows update settings.Beyond that, the soundcards that are integrated into computers aren't really designed for home recording, so they tend to have higher latency. You might consider getting a low-latency USB audio interface, like one from Focusrite or something similar. You also might try Mixcraft 10 to see how that works for you.Mixcraft upgrade page.Greg Ray Cube Posts: 180 Joined: Thu May 25, 2023 1:05 pm Location: Rochester UK Re: Latency issues Mixcraft 8 Post
