Since you mentioned you removed all the running programs from your task bar. I went ahead and removed all the apple crap again and started over, this time I ran msconfig and only let microsoft services run and I shut down all the start up programs from msconfig. I then rebooted and installed quicktime and then itunes and everything is working now. So it must be a specific program we have in common. I'm thinking it could be either the spybot search & destroy service OR NOD32 antivirus. Do you have either of those?
